IRS CP14

Starting this summer, some taxpayers have received an IRS notice CP14 indicating a balance is due on their 2023 Form 1040 return even though payments have already been made. This has affected taxpayers who paid electronically and by check for tax year 2023.

The IRS has issued a statement that some of these notices have been initiated in error due to a timing delay in processing payments or errors with payments themselves.

According to the IRS, if a taxpayer has received this notice and has already paid their 2023 Form 1040 tax balance timely and in full, they do not need to respond to the notice. However, as there is no way to determine if Notice CP14 was sent due to this widespread delay or a separate issue, we do recommend taxpayers respond to the notice with proof of payment to ensure no further collection actions are initiated on the balance.

If you have received Notice CP14 for tax year 2023 and would like HD Growth Partners to issue a letter in response, please reply to this email us and our team will send you a secure link to upload a copy of the notice and your proof of payment.
